Frequently Asked Questions (about headbadges)

How do I attach my headbadge to my bike frame?

For a strong, permanent hold, I recommend a 2-part epoxy. Apply epoxy to the headbadge and stick it to your bike frame. Use masking tape or painter’s tape to hold the badge in place while the epoxy sets. Epoxy can be messy, so if it oozes out the edges, quickly clean up the spillage with a rag. For a not-as-permanent hold, use an industrial-strength double-stick tape. Both products are available in the glue section of your local hardware store.

Where do I place my headbadge?

Usually, a headbadge is placed on the head tube of a bicycle (hence the name). If you look at the front of your bike, this is the part between the wheel and the handlebars. But don’t let tradition constrain you! I’ve known many customers to place their custom badge on the bicycle top tube or down tube. (If you plan to adhere your badge in another place beside the head tube, be sure to let me know, so that I can form it to fit correctly.)

What is a “complex” design?

I consider a design to be “complex” when it involves more than six cuts into the interior of the headbadge. Each cut requires that I drill in to the metal, thread in my sawblade, and cut very methodically and carefully. This dramatically increases the time it takes me to make the badge, which is why I add a complexity fee of $15. Incorporating a lot of text is a good example of creating a complex design, like this badge:

What sort of payment do you accept?

Right now, I use PayPal to accept payments. Even if you do not have an account, you can use the PayPal system to pay with a credit or debit card. If you prefer to not use PayPal, please let me know and we can arrange another method (such as mailing a money order).

How do you ship?

I always ship all orders via the US Postal Service, First Class shipping with Delivery Confirmation. (Overseas orders also ship via USPS, but without Delivery Confirmation, as it’s not an option with International First Class.) Most orders will arrive within a few days. I do not charge additional for postage fees. If you would like your headbadge shipped via a different method, please let me know in advance.
